Terms of Service
Last updated: 3 June 2026
1. About these terms
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) form a binding agreement between you and Pages.chat (“we”, “us”) when you sign up for an account, visit the site, or use any part of the service. If you don't agree with them, please don't use Pages.chat.
2. What Pages.chat is
Pages.chat is a web application that lets you upload PDF documents and ask questions about them in natural language. We process your uploads with third-party AI providers (see the Privacy Policy) and return generated answers. AI output can be wrong or misleading — don't rely on it for legal, medical, financial, or any other professional advice.
3. Your account
You need an account to use most features. You're responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials secret and for everything that happens under your account. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has accessed it.
You must be old enough to enter into a contract in your country (typically 18). The service isn't aimed at children.
4. Subscriptions and billing
Pages.chat is free to try with limits on documents and messages. Paid plans (Pro, Scholar) unlock higher limits and are billed monthly in advance. Stripe processes all payments — we never see or store your card details.
Plans renew automatically every month until you cancel. Cancelling stops the next renewal — you keep paid access until the end of the period you've already paid for.
If you change plans mid-period, we use Stripe's standard proration: you get credited for the unused portion of your previous plan and charged a prorated amount for the new one.
Prices are shown in GBP and exclude any applicable VAT, which is added at checkout where required. We may change prices from time to time; any change applies from the next renewal, not the current period, and we'll notify you by email before it takes effect.
5. Refunds
Subscriptions are non-refundable except where required by law. If you believe you've been charged in error, contact us and we'll review on a case-by-case basis.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to use Pages.chat to:
- break any law or another person's rights;
- upload content you don't have the right to upload, or that violates someone else's copyright, trademark, or privacy;
- upload malware, scripts, or any non-PDF content disguised as PDFs in an attempt to compromise the service;
- attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or load-test the service without prior written consent;
- use the service to generate spam, harassment, or content that targets or endangers individuals.
We can suspend or terminate accounts that breach these rules, with or without notice depending on severity.
7. Your content
You keep all rights to the documents you upload and the messages you send. You grant us a non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to store and process that content solely to provide the service to you — including passing it to the AI providers we use to generate answers.
We don't use your content to train AI models, and our providers are configured to do the same where the option exists. See the Privacy Policy for the full list of sub-processors.
8. Our content
The Pages.chat brand, site, code, and design are ours and protected by intellectual-property laws. Using the service doesn't give you any rights to them beyond using the service itself.
9. Termination
You can delete your account at any time from Settings. Doing so cancels your subscription immediately and removes your documents and chat history from the app.
We can suspend or close accounts that breach these Terms, that don't pay, or that pose a security or legal risk to us or other users.
10. Disclaimer
The service is provided “as is”. We make no warranties — express, implied, or statutory — about the service's availability, the accuracy of AI output, or its fitness for any particular purpose, to the maximum extent allowed by law.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent allowed by law, our total liability to you under or in connection with these Terms is limited to the amount you've paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. We're not liable for indirect, special, or consequential losses including loss of profit, goodwill, or data. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that can't be excluded by law (such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud).
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If the change is material, we'll let you know by email or in-app notice before it takes effect. Continued use of the service after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes will be resolved in its courts, except where local consumer-protection law gives you a non-waivable right to use a different forum.
